Herbal infusions can be added to the basin water for compresses to nourish and condition the skin as well as help alleviate skin problems. Choose a blend appropriate for your skin type. After you have thoroughly mixed the dried herbs, make a strong tea using two tablespoons of herbs to one cup of boiling water. Cover and allow to steep for thirty minutes. Strain, then pour the tea into the basin and add warm or cool water, whichever is appropriate for your skin type, and apply the compress usual. Essential oils can be used with facial compresses to create a wonderful treatment that provides the benefits of both hydrotherapy and aromatherapy. |
