Moles

Moles appear anywhere on the skin, single or in group. Moles can be colored any from light brown to red, blue, dark brown, gray and black. Moles may be flat or slightly raised or smooth or rough and may contain dark hairs.

Mostly the moles are benign nevi and are harmless. The moles are termed as dysplastic nevus that contain abnormal or atypical cells. But these dysplastic nevi can be the cause of a skin cancer. The average life cycle of the mole is about 50 years.

Normally everyone has moles, after some time, they may enlarge and may develop hairs. After some days moles can change, becoming larger or change its color. Some moles will never change at all.

But the person with a personal or family history of skin cancer should maintain regular contact with dermatology practitioner for annual checkup and removal of if any suspicious moles.

It is good to recognize warning symptoms of mole such as changes in mole color, shape, or size.
