Wrinkles

Age of any person can be decided by looking at his or her face - mostly the skin. As age, it's normal to get wrinkles. And if the person has spent a lot of time in the sun, at tanning salons, or smoking cigarettes, he or she might have a lot of them. Our skin is structure of three layers:

  1. Outermost layer called the epidermis

  2. Middle layer called the dermis

  3. Innermost layer called the subcutaneous

Young person doesn't have wrinkles because the skin does a great job of stretching and holding in moisture. The dermis has an elastic quality due to fibers elastin that keep the skin looking and feeling young. A protein in the dermis called collagen also help in preventing wrinkles.

After some age (may be 40), the dermis loses both collagen and elastin, that's why the skin become thinner and can not get enough moisture to the epidermis. The fat in the subcutaneous layer actually gives skin a plump appearance also start disappearing, the epidermis starts to sag, and thus wrinkles form.

Squinting or spending too much time in the sun cause little wrinkles around their eyes called crow's feet just in the age of 20s also, some people may have in 50s or 60s before you can even see a wrinkle. This happens cause they have taken care of their skin over the years and so they may have more sebum, the skin's natural oil still protecting the skin.

Everyone will have at least a few wrinkles as it is a natural part of the aging process but can have minimum wrinkles just by taking care of your skin in early age.

Tip to Avoid wrinkles in early edge :

  1. Avoid direct sun exposure to your skin, specially during the sun's rays are harshest in afternoon.

  2. UV rays cause many wrinkles so use sunblock.

  3. Wear a sunblock with sun protection factor (SPF) 15 mostly in summer.

  4. Always apply sunblocks after swimming, playing sports and working which make you sweaty.

  5. Avoid going to the tanning salon as the UV light from tanning booths is just as damaging as the sun's.

  6. Use Moisturizers for dry skin, specially in summer.

  7. Don't smoke as smoking robs your skin of precious moisture which causes premature (early) wrinkles.

  8. Drink sufficient water daily.
